How do you ensure that your videos are a success on YouTube? As an entrepreneur, online video can be an interesting way to promote your brand and products that is how technology is important to us. You must buy subscribers using your technology. Dirk van der Woude and Chris Klapwijk (partner managers at YouTube) share their 10 golden tips for a successful video channel.
How do you earn money with online video?
How Do You Manage That? 10 Tips:
1. Divisibility
“To be shareable, your video must be current, valuable, or recognizable,” Chris says. For example, a current video is a parody of a song that is currently in the top 40. A valuable video gives useful tips, for example, ’10 tips against stress’. Finally, you can also make a video about something that everyone in your target group recognizes. Consider for example a video with the title ‘5 things that all mothers recognize’.
2. Conversation With the Viewer
“Make digital eye contact,” says Derk. “We see that videos in which the speaker looks directly into the camera and addresses the viewer personally are better viewed.” Of course, it depends on what type of videos you make. For example, if you make a kind of online soap opera, it’s strange to let everyone look into the camera. “You can add extra videos while conducting personal interviews with the actors,” says Chris. He mentions the “Q & As” of the popular YouTube series “Moroccan gives driving lessons” as an example.
3. Interactivity
The more interactivity, the longer your visitors keep watching. View these examples: Drunk in session and Jamie Oliver. These kinds of interactive videos are fairly easy to make with the annotation function on YouTube. In the annotation you add a link to a specific time in the video: viewers can click through to that moment.
4. Recognisability
“Make sure your channel is in order,” says Chris. “That means a recognizable profile photo, header image and a description of your channel. What kind of videos can your viewer expect if he follows your channel? ”
5. Target Group
“Before you start with a channel, you must clearly have an eye on who your target audience is,” says Derk. “You can start quite broadly. The target group of Jamie Oliver is ‘people who love to cook’. He later added more specific playlists, for example ’15-minute dishes’, ‘Italian recipes’ or ‘Cooking for children’.
6. Sustainability
“If you want to make series, it is important that you can easily make multiple episodes,” says Chris. “You have to ensure that your channel remains active. So don’t make three expensive film productions, but rather make twenty short films of which you can shoot a few in one day. ”
7. Findability
300 minutes of video material is uploaded to YouTube every minute. How do you ensure that your target group finds your video in this gigantic offer? Chris: “Fill in your title, tags, and description with words that you know your target group is looking for. You can find out in Google Trends what people often look for. For example, do not use the title “An instruction for mailbox management”, but rather “How do I organize my mail?” or “How to: manage mailbox”. ”
8. Accessibility
Although you want people to feel like they are watching a series, every episode must be watchable. “Make sure the viewer also understands video 4 if he has not seen videos 1, 2 and 3,” says Chris.
9. Collaborate
“Through cooperation, you can increase your audience,” says Derk. “By working together with a popular YouTuber you make use of its reach. In addition, collaboration often creates new, creative ideas. ”
10. Passion
“Anyone who wants a successful YouTube channel needs a long breath,” says Derk. “It took the most popular YouTubers a few years before they were really successful. That is why the most important tip is: do something with your passion. In the case of a company: create videos that fit the core of your company. First of all, you don’t last for years without pleasure and secondly, you really see it on video if you lack passion. ”
